Swedish & Deep Tissue Massage
Sessions can be a mix of two practices: Swedish massage with a lighter touch, longer flowing strokes. Deep tissues massage uses firmer, slow pressure to penetrate to deeper layers of tension. We Luv Freely bodywork uses a blended approach to right size the modality with the client.
Whether it's a deep pressure massage to work out a knot or a lighter pressure Swedish style massage, Travis Matthews, LMT accepts clients for 90 minute blocks.

What is a Deep Tissue Massage?
A deep tissue massage from Travis targets specific mechanical relief points. Using the body's natural mechanisms to adjust so that working tense spots can be worked out.
A Swedish massage session at We Luv Freely bodywork is the relaxing and refreshing reset button for when you're carrying too much stress in your body. Sessions last 90 minutes and can focus on a key area or shift toward a total body relaxation experience.
Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage and Swedish Massage
Deep tissue massage is, as it sounds, firmer pressure in targeted areas to work out specific points of tension. In addition to the deeper muscle layer, this massage style can also be used to work facia and supporting ligaments. Relieving spot tension can alleviate tension headaches, migraines, posture issues and stiffness. Athletes benefit from deep tissue massage sessions to boost recovery during high intensity training periods. Athletes and those recovering from injury alike can both benefit from deep tissue massage.
The benefits of a Swedish style massage differ from a deep tissue massage, it promotes relaxation, stress relief and a reset. Swedish style massage is intended to be a pleasurable experience that is just as much about the work as the experience itself. Deep tissue massage can also be enjoyable, but the purpose of a deep tissue session is to work out specific mechanical tension points rather than a relaxing experience. However, Swedish style bodywork can alleviate tension and be an excellent introduction to massage for beginners or those apprehensive about booking their first Deep tissue massage.
What getting a Swedish or Deep Tissue Massage is like from Travis Matthews, LMT
Before your session, Travis will work with you to establish what your needs are and a plan that supports them. Sessions themselves may be lightly interactive, providing feedback during the session aides the process of adapting your sessions to you. Usually in comfortable lighting, in partial dress or in an under layer only clients lay on a massage table, are draped with a cover. Oil is traditionally used during a Swedish massage, but can be omitted by request.
What's the difference between a Swedish massage and deep tissue massage?
Swedish massage uses lighter pressure for relaxation; deep tissue uses firmer pressure for chronic tension. They're intended for different goals. Swedish massage is about decompressing, deep tissue is for working on specific issues, not necessarily in one specific area.
How hard is a deep tissue massage? Can I ask for ligher pressure?
A deep tissue massage is heavy, firm pressure. You can request lighter pressure at any time. During your session or before. At We Luv Freely bodywork Travis' belief is that your body tells you what it needs, and we need to listen and respond with the appropriate application.
