Thai Sports Massage

Thai bodywork blends assisted stretching, rhythmic compression, and acupressure to ease tension and improve mobility. Also sometimes called Thai sports massage, it is performed fully clothed, without oil. It's a hands-on, active style of bodywork suited to anyone dealing with tightness, limited range of motion, or recovery from injury or training.

What is Thai Bodywork?

Rather than kneading soft tissue the way a traditional massage does, Thai massage moves your body through a sequence of assisted stretches, joint mobilizations, and rhythmic compressions along energy lines. More dynamic than a swedish massage, traditional thai massage may feel more activating than relaxing at times. Still a comfortable experience, you feel moments of tightness through some movements.  You stay fully clothed on a floor mat or table, and the pressure and stretch depth are adjusted to your comfort and flexibility throughout the session.

Travis' approach to bodywork and assisted stretching is grounded in the human body's natural physiology. Using that foundation, he adapts the application of the practice to fit the client's situation. Clients have praised Travis' bodywork sessions for being comfortable, accessible, and dynamic.

Benefits of Thai Bodywork with Travis

Regular Thai massage can help ease chronic tension. Because it combines stretching with compression, it often reaches areas that feel stiff or restricted in ways a still, oil-based massage doesn't. Underneath the scapula and upper back are common areas that benefit from thai bodywork with Travis.

Proper Thai massage helps improve range of motion and flexibility. Routine sessions often contribute to noticeable improvement to flexibility in previously stiff areas.

Post surgery or injury, thai massage can support the bodies recovery process by providing additional stretching, movement and circulation. Many physical therapists recommend patients include bodywork sessions to support natural recovery.

There are many natural benefits of thai yoga massage on the body, including headache relief

What happens in a Thai Bodywork Session with Travis?

Before your session remember to wear loose or flexible clothing. Please arrive early.

During your session you should expect to stretch, twist and bend according to your comfort level. Stretches will be assisted, done on the floor in a soft, padded environment. You should expect to have a practitioner in your personal space, touching your body and helping you to move. Compression and stretches are not painful, please voice any discomfort immediately.

After your session. Drink water, stay hydrated. It is not unusual to be a touch sore if significant work was done. Usually, you will feel lightened, activated and eased.
